House in Shinonome
Western appearance: A simple shape with a gable roof. There are no windows and you can only see the entrance porch.
The kitchen and dining table are designed as one. There is a sliding door on the back wall. Behind the sliding door is a back storage and a hidden entrance to the pantry and bathroom.
There is a light well including stairs on the south side of the room. Light and wind pass through the upper window.
The wall of the kitchen is mortar and the top plate is stainless steel.
The wall on the right is north. There is also a slit window under the TV shelf to allow air to pass through the room.
Stairs and living room
Staircase hall: It becomes a light well, and light falls from the wooden louver at the top.
Lightwell: There is a top light for daylighting and a window for ventilation at the top of the louver.
There is a small window on the wall of the corridor on the second floor facing Lightwell. This also brings light and wind through.

The site was located in the city of Himeji, and a three-story parking lot was built on the adjacent land on the south side. It was a site where daylight could not be expected from the south side. In addition, there is a parking lot on the north side, and large windows cannot be installed. Under these conditions, we examined whether it would be possible to bring brightness to the room and allow air to pass through. The appearance is a simple shape with a gable roof. Only the entrance porch can be seen on the road side of the west side. There is a light well including stairs on the south side of the room. Above it is a wooden louver. Above that, there is a top light for daylighting and a window for ventilation. The light coming down from the top light is diffused by the louver and brings the light to the 2nd and 1st floors. There is a horizontal window for ventilation on the north side of the living room on the first floor. In the summer, this window takes in the wind and blows it to the upper window in the south.
